Berkshires Mushroom Festival

  • Sweetgrass Botanicals 635 Laurel Street Lee, MA 01238 (map)

Calling all mushroom enthusiasts, foragers, growers, chefs, and psychonauts! Sweetgrass Botanicals is hosting the inaugural Berkshires Mushroom Fest on Sunday, April 14th.

This will be a fun and educational and community-building event focused on learning and exploring the vast world of mycology. Free wood-fired, organic mushroom pizza (with vegan options) will be provided by Pizza to the People.

The event is facilitated by Bay Staters for Natural Medicine (https://www.baystatersnm.org/), a grassroots coalition working on legalizing plant medicine in MA, as well as teaching about foraging and homegrowing mushrooms (they will be bringing kits and explanation incoluation).

The event features several amazing speakers, including foraging legend John Wheeler, Founder of the Berkshire Mycological Society and James Davis, the Founder of Baystaters and an activist myco teacher and advocate for plant medicines.

Mushroom dye maker Liz Markey (@studio_lizu), will also hold a workshop teaching which species can produce particular colors, how to choose the correct mordants, and how the colors appear on natural fibers like silk and wool).

Finally, there will be a free mushroom tasting, with discussions of various species.

The event is FREE, but donations to Bay Staters are encouraged and there will be fun and unique items available for purchase!
